The 80's are black and the 90's till present are orange. We started using double digits in 2000. Those serial numbers start with 00. So a 2008 model would be 0812345. Hope this helps.

That was a lot of money for a 50cc saw 25 plus years ago but a very inexpensive saw per piece of wood cut. A quality purchase will often prove to be a better value in the long run. That comes out to less than $15 per year of ownership and it does what it needs to do whenever I need it.
